Carolina Takes A 16-3 Win Over High Point

Chapel Hill, NC -- The North Carolina Tar Heels came back from a 3-0 first-inning deficit and rolled to a 16-3 win over High Point on a beautiful day for baseball at Boshamer Stadium.
The Tar Heels quickly tied the game at 3-3 in the bottom of the first on Kyle Datres' bases-loaded three-run double. Carolina then took the lead for good with six runs in the third. Michael Busch, Ashton McGee and Ike Freeman had run-scoring singles, Brandon Martorano drove in a run with a sacrifice fly, then Dylan Enwiller's two-run double capped off the inning.
Kyle Datres drilled a two-run homer in the fourth for an 11-3 lead, then Michael Busch had a solo homer in the sixth. Brandon Martorano ripped a three-run homer in the eighth, then Ashton McGee capped off the scoring with an RBI single in the ninth.
Michael Busch led all hitters by going 4-4 with two RBI and four runs scored. Kyle Datres was 3-4 with five RBI and one run scored. Brandon Riley was 2-4 with two runs scored. Busch, Datres and Brandon Martorano each homered. Riley and Datres each had two doubles while Dylan Enwiller and Dallas Tessar both doubled.
Eight pitchers threw for the Tar Heels. Cooper Criswell got the start with Austin Love, Angel Zarate, Kyle Blendinger, John Dancy, Jake Randolph, Trevor Gay and Ben Casparius throwing in relief.
Carolina will cap off the fall with the Fall World Series Oct. 13-15. Admission is free.
