There's not a single person named Sam, Mike, or Will on the Tar Heel two-deep depth chart, and yet those have been some of the most frequently discussed names during training camp. As Butch Davis searches for more depth at linebacker, he's looking for a certain type of player to fill the Sam, Mike, and Will linebacker roles.

W. Soccer - 8/19/2008
The University of North Carolina Department of Athletics will
not charge admission to regular-season men's and women's soccer games at
Fetzer Field this fall. Extensive renovations are currently under way at
Carmichael Auditorium, which is located adjacent to Fetzer Field. Because of
the construction, spectators will not be permitted to walk on the paved
driveway between the intramural fields and Carmichael.

M. Golf - 8/19/2008
University of North Carolina golfers Barden Berry and Kevin O'Connell have advanced to match play at the 108th U.S. Amateur. After 36 holes of stroke play, Berry, who just completed his senior year, tied for 33rd place at three-over-par 143 while sophomore O'Connell finished one stroke back at four-over 144 in a tie for 47th place. W. Soccer - 8/18/2008
North Carolina alumnae Lori Chalpuny and Heather O'Reilly scored the tying goal and the game-winning goal, respectively, and Angles Hucles scored two goals as the U.S. advanced to the gold medal match with a 4-2 victory against Japan at Beijing's Workers' Stadium on Monday. Since women's soccer was added to the Olympic program in 1996, the U.S. is the only team that has advanced to all four Olympic Finals, and for the second consecutive time will play Brazil with the gold medal on the line. The U.S. defeated Brazil 2-1 in Athens to win their second gold medal.
