UNC Hosts High Point Saturday In NCAA First Round

Carolina will meet Panthers at 1 p.m.
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The University of North Carolina women's soccer team has earned a first-round host game in the NCAA Division I Women Championship and will play host to the High Point University Panthers Saturday at 1 p.m. at WakeMed Soccer Park's Koka Booth Stadium.
The Tar Heels earned the automatic bid from the Atlantic Coast Conference after beating Duke 1-0 Sunday in the ACC Tournament championship game in Charleston, S.C. That marked Carolina's first ACC Tournament championship since 2009. The Tar Heels are 15-2-2 this season. High Point is the champion of the Big South Conference. The Panthers come to Chapel Hill Saturday with a record of 13-7-1.
UNC is the No. 1 seed in the lower right quadrant of the tournament bracket. The No. 1 seeds in order are Stanford, North Carolina, Duke and South Carolina.
First-round games in UNC's quadrant of the bracket this coming weekend include:
San Diego State at #2 UCLA
Butler at Northwestern
Cal State Fullerton at Pepperdine
Saint Francis (Pa.) at #3 Virginia
Monmouth at #4 Princeton
Arkansas at NC State
Colorado at Denver
High Point at #1 North Carolina
Tickets for Saturday's game can be purchased in advance at the GoHeels.com Ticket Center. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children and senior citizens and $3 for group tickets. Gates will open Saturday at 12 noon.
Saturday's game will be webcast live nationally by ACC Network Extra will live streaming on WatchESPN and the ESPN App.
