Four Corners: Waiting On The Wolfpack
Release: 01/06/2017

CHAPEL HILL—After playing back-to-back road games to start conference play last week, Carolina will play its home Atlantic Coast Conference opener on Saturday against North Carolina State.

On to this week's Four Corners:

 1. NEWS & NOTES

♦ Current weather forecasts are predicting the possibility of wintry conditions in North Carolina on Saturday. Unfortunately, it is impossible to determine with certainty at this point what the weather conditions will be this weekend. School and ACC officials will make a decision concerning the UNC-NC State men’s basketball game as soon as possible on Saturday based on the actual weather conditions.

♦ Atlantic Coast Conference game management policy states the primary factor that would prevent a game from being played at its scheduled time is the ability of the two teams, game officials and event management staff to safely get to and from the site of competition.

♦ University of North Carolina officials will be in communication with the ACC and NC State and will publicize any updates as information becomes available. Stay tuned to GoHeels.com and @UNC_Basketball for the latest information.

2. LAST WEEK

♦ Carolina lost its ACC opener at Georgia Tech last Saturday. Here's Adam Lucas' breakdown of what went wrong in McCavish Pavilion.

♦ On Tuesday, the Tar Heels evened their ACC record with an overtime win at Clemson, 89-86. Kenny Williams had icewater in his veins in draining his late free throws to seal the win, Lucas writes.  Watch the highlights from GoHeels TV:

♦ Joel Berry II was the star, scoring a career-high 31 points and making a career-high seven three-pointers. Watch Berry's highlight reel:

3. UP NEXT

♦ After hosting North Carolina State on Saturday, the Tar Heels will visit Wake Forest on Wednesday January 11 before hosting Florida State on Saturday January 14 and Syracuse on Monday January 16.

4. DON'T MISS IT

♦ Former Tar Heel point guard Ty Lawson, now with the NBA's Sacramento Kings, is embracing his entrepereneurial spirit and launching a line of slippers based on iconic sneakers. Sports Illustrated's The Crossover blog called it "the next big thing."

♦ Carolina and Stanford will play a home-and-home series beginning next year when the Tar Heels visit the Cardinal on Monday November 20, 2017. Stanford will play at UNC on Monday November 12, 2018. Stanford's head coach is former Tar Heel assistant coach Jerod Haase, who's in his first year with the Cardinal after a successful stint as the head coach at UAB.
