Chapel Hill, N.C. - North Carolina will hold its annual Spring Football Game on Saturday, April 14, at 3 p.m. at Kenan Stadium. Several fan-friendly events are scheduled for the first Spring Game under the direction of head coach Larry Fedora.
"We look forward to an exciting day of football activities," said Fedora. "This should be a fun day for the fans who can come out and enjoy everything Chapel Hill has to offer. I think the players will have a good time and our fans will be entertained. I look forward to seeing everyone at Kenan."
The Stadium Drive StreetFest kicks off the day's events at 11 a.m. Stadium Drive will be blocked off from South Road to Gate 2 of Kenan Stadium and feature live music from Liquid Pleasure and former football player Chase Rice. Rice is an up-and-coming country music artist who played linebacker for the Tar Heels from 2005-08. Food vendors, merchandise tents and interactive games will be set up along Stadium Drive.
Carolina players will be available for autographs for one hour beginning at 1 p.m. near Gate 3.
The Tar Heels will play a four-quarter game with a normal clock in the first half and a running clock in the second. The coaching staff will determine the teams. The game will be broadcast on the internet on ESPN3.com. Walter Storholt and former UNC All-America Dre' Bly will call the action.
Between the first and second quarter, former linebacker Zach Brown, Carolina's leading tackler in 2010 and a first-team All-ACC selection, will be presented with the Elite Linebacker Trophy presented by the College Football Performance Awards. Brown posted 105 tackles last season, including a season-high vs. Missouri in the Independence Bowl, and is expected to be selected in the 2011 NFL Draft.
In conjunction with the Spring Game, the annual UNC Science Expo will be held on campus from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. UNC Athletics has partnered with the Science Expo, which is expected to draw several thousand visitors to Chapel Hill.
