Heels Grab Two Wins At Indoor Nationals

FLUSHING, N.Y. --- Gina Suarez-Malaguti and Whitney Kay scored wins over top-100 opponents on day two of the 2012 USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. Kay and Ashley Dai were eliminated from the doubles main draw with an 8-3 loss to top-seeded Kaitlyn Christian and Sabrina Santamaria of USC.

Suarez-Malaguti defeated No. 89 Aleksandra Josifoska of UNLV in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4. She advances to face consolation top seed and No. 4 national singles player Cristina Sanchez-Quintanar of Texas A&M. 

Kay notched her best win of the fall with a 7-6 (1), 6-4 victory over No. 28 Kata Szekely of Tennessee. She will meet Nicole Bartnik of host school Columbia in Saturday's consolation quarters.

Zoe De Bruycker dropped her match to No. 37 Maho Kowase of Georgia, 6-4, 6-2.
