Price Closes In On All-American Spot
Release: 10/03/2012

PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. --- Sophomore Caroline Price won two qualifying singles matches Tuesday and is one win away from a spot in the main draw of the 2012 ITA/Riviera All-American Championships.

Price defeated seventh-seeded Ludmila Vasilieva of Washington State, 6-2, 6-4, before topping UCLA's Kyle McPhillips, 7-6 (5), 6-1. Price will face Jenny Julien of St. Mary's Wednesday morning for a slot in the main draw.

Price had to rebound from a loss in doubles qualifying earlier Tuesday in order to move forward in singles. Playing with freshman Whitney Kay, who already has a spot in the singles main draw, Price and her fellow Georgian fell to Aleksandra Josifoska and Nives Pavlovic of UNLV, 9-7, in the first round of doubles qualifying.

Senior Zoe De Bruycker dropped her first-round qualifying match to Florida State's Francesca Segarelli, 6-3, 6-3, before defeating Vanderbilt's Lauren Mira in a consolation match, 6-4, 6-1. De Bruycker will take on Santa Clara's Katie Le in Wednesday's consolation round of 16.
