Tar Heels Travel To Duke
Release: 02/10/2012

Feb. 10, 2012

The North Carolina men's and women's fencing teams will experience the closest thing they have to a home meet this season when they travel to Durham for the Duke Fencing Invitational on Saturday and Sunday in Card Gym.

UNC has no home events this season and in recent weeks has bussed to Pennsylvania and Illinois. Thus, the short drive to Duke's campus will be a welcome trip.

The Tar Heel men's team competes on Saturday and the women's team fences on Sunday, with action on both days beginning at 8 a.m.

Saturday, the UNC men will face Penn State at 8 a.m., Brandeis at 9:30 a.m., Duke at 11 a.m., Johns Hopkins at 1:15 p.m. and Air Force at 2:45 p.m.

Sunday, the women will take on Penn State at 8 a.m., Temple at 9:30 a.m., Duke at 11 a.m., Brandeis at 1:15 p.m. and Air Force at 2:45 p.m.

Those attending Saturday's action should be aware that campus traffic will be heavy due to the Duke-Rutgers men's lacrosse game (noon) and the Duke-Maryland men's basketball game (4 p.m.). Parking will be available only in the Men's Basketball General Public parking lots on Circuit Drive. The cost to park is $10 per vehicle and only cash is accepted. For driving directions to the lot, check the Duke website, GoDuke.com.
