General Information

Two-year starter for the Tar Heels • will miss the non-conference phase of the 2012 season while playing with the U20 National Team in Japan at the World Cup • had a spectacular freshman year in 2010, winning national rookie of the year honors • her versatility has been a key for Carolina the past two years as she has started on defense, in the midfield and at forward • primarily played midfield and forward through her youth career but was switched to defense for her U.S. National Team duties • started on defense in summer 2010 for the U20 National Team at the World Cup in Germany just after her 18th birthday • ranked as the No. 9 recruit by TopDrawerSoccer.com coming out of high school • featured in a cover story in ESPN RISE magazine in fall of 2008.

Sophomore Season (2011)

Named a third-team All-America by the NSCAA • 2011 preseason All-America choice by Soccer America • named a first-team All-ACC selection • also named first-team All-Southeast Region by the NSCAA • was chosen Top Drawer Soccer National Player of the Week on October 4, 2011 • was named to the Top Drawer Soccer National Team of the Week three times during the 2011 season (August 30, October 4, October 11) • preseason All-America selection by Soccer America • tapped for Missouri Athletic Club Hermann Trophy Watch List • named by Top Drawer Soccer To Its Preseason Top 100 list for 2011 • started 19 games for the Tar Heels, missing only the Clemson game when she was training with the National Team • had three goals and six assists on the season for 12 points • was the fifth leading scorer on the team and tied for third on the squad in assists • scored goals against Texas A&M, NC State and UCF  • tied the NCAA third round game against UCF with a goal in the final minutes • had two assists against William & Mary in NCAA first round • also had assists against UNCG, Florida State, Miami and Baylor.

Freshman Season (2010)

Soccer America Freshman of the Year • 2010 NSCAA first-team All-America honoree • second-team Soccer America MVP selection • named first-team All-ACC • chosen as ACC Defensive Player of the Year, the first freshman ever to win the award and the second Tar Heel in a row to be so named • also tapped for the ACC All-Freshman Team • semifinalist for the 2010 Missouri Athletic Club Hermann Trophy • first-team Top Drawer Soccer All-Rookie Team choice • captured first-team Soccer America All-Freshman Team honors • named to Top Drawer Soccer National Team of the Week on November 15, 2010 • named to All-Tournament Team at the 2010 ACC Tournament • copped honors on first-team NSCAA All-Southeast Region squad • started all 23 games she played in, totaling 1,929 minutes • played the entire way 18 times • team's third-leading scorer with 26 points • was third in goals with nine and fourth in assists with eight • scored six goals in the final five games of the campaign • had first career point on game-winning assist in win at San Diego State • scored twice versus Boston College September 23 for her first career goals • had game-winner in 99th minute of 1-0 win at Virginia • had eight-game point streak at end of season • had two assists versus Clemson and one each versus Maryland and Duke • finished regular season with assist on Courtney Jones' game-winner and then her own insurance goal in 2-0 win at Wake Forest • had a goal and an assist in ACC Tournament quarterfinals versus Virginia Tech • had four NCAA Tournament goals, one each against Jackson State (game-winner) and Notre Dame • scored two goals in 3-1 win over James Madison in NCAA second round • shot 30 percent to lead the team including 60 percent on goal rate.

ODP, National Teams & Club Soccer

Member of the 2012 U.S. U20 National Team competing in the U20 World Cup in Japan in August and September • has competed for U.S. youth national and ODP region 1 teams in six different countries • was a member of the U20 National Team in 2010 • trained with the team for much of the year and competed with the team at the qualifying tournament in Guatemala and the World Cup in Germany • in 2009, she was part of the U18 pool and the U20 team • was a member of the U17 team in 2008, starting at left back for the U.S. World Cup team that year • was one of the most dependable players on that squad • scored the game-winning goal against Mexico in the 92nd minute at the qualifying tournament in Trinidad and Tobago to send the U.S. to the first ever U17 World Cup • won the silver medal at the U17 World Cup in New Zealand, playing every minute of every game • member of the Region 1 ODP Team for five years  • competed with the Eastern New York ODP team for six years • plays her club soccer with the Albertson Fury 91, which won the NY state cup championship in 2009 • chosen a 2008 & 2009 NSCAA/adidas youth All-America.

Prep

Graduated in June 2010 from South Side High School in Rockville Centre, N.Y. • member of Principal's Advisory Board in high school • four-year starter on the pitch at forward and midfield • captain of the team in 2008 & 2009 • led team to New York state championships in 2006, 2007 and 2009 • she missed the 2008 campaign due to National Team commitments • the squads she played on in '07 and '09 went undefeated and were ranked No. 1 in the nation by the NSCAA • her team lost only two games in three seasons • in her three years, she scored 46 goals and had 35 assists • in the 2009 state championship game, she scored four goals and had a hat trick in the first 20 minutes of the match • 2009 NSCAA, ESPNRise and Parade Magazine high school All-America • New York Gatorade high school player of the year in 2009 • as a senior, she was named Newsday Long Island player of the year, Nassau County Class A player of the year, New York Sportswriters Class A player of the year, BigAppleSoccer.com youth player of the year and the winner of the Mike Clark Award for the best all-around athlete in Nassau County • first-team All-State and All-Long Island in 2006, '07 and '09.

Crystal Alyssia Dunn is the daughter of Vincent and Rhonda Dunn • was born July 2, 1992 in New Hyde Park, N.Y. • sociology major • ran a summer soccer camp for inner city children in Queens, N.Y.
