CHAPEL HILL - The University of North Carolina women's lacrosse team was honored on Monday by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association as an Academic Squad, honoring the Tar Heels' team GPA.
The IWLCA has recognized 42 schools as earning Academic Squad honors for the 2012 season. Every school with a team GPA of 3.0 or higher earned Academic Squad honors, including NCAA champion Northwestern.
Eleven squads that participated in the NCAA Championships were named as Academic Squads, including UNC.
