CHAPEL HILL - Former Tar Heel Kristen Carr earned Player of the Match honors for the United States National Team on Saturday, leading Team USA with a team-high five ground balls and four caused turnovers.  According to Lacrosse Magazine, Carr "stepped up to take draw controls too, helping the U.S. to a 20-8 advantage."

The U.S. defeated Canada Red 21-4 on Saturday in Oshawa, Ontario to improve to 2-0 at the North American Challenge Cup.

US Lacrosse also recently put together a nice feature story on former Tar Heel Jenn Russell (class of 2010) and her dedication to hold down a full-time development job at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute while also playing midfielder for the U.S. National Team.  To read the article, click here.

Former Tar Heels Amber Falcone, Russell, Carr, Erica LaGrow and Laura Zimmerman earned spots on the 24-player team roster for the North American Challenge Cup, making UNC the only school in the nation to place five players on the team.

Rising UNC senior Kara Cannizzaro and 2011 graduate Corey Donohoe were late cuts from the squad.
