CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Casey Grice, a junior on North Carolina's women's golf team, will be playing in the inaugural North Texas LPGA Shootout this week. The 72-hole event will be played April 25-28 at Las Colinas Country Club in Irving, Tex., a par 71, 6,410-yard layout.
"I am very excited to play in the North Texas Shootout," says Grice. "The tour (LPGA) is my ultimate goal and this weekend will give me a great opportunity to see how my game compares to those competing on the LPGA right now. It will also be a great competitive atmosphere to help prepare me for Regionals in a few weeks and then Nationals following that. It will be a very exciting experience and I will learn as much as possible from the pros to bring back to my team to help us all compete at our highest level in the post season."
Grice is one of two collegiate players participating in the event, the other one is Madison Pressel, a senior at Texas. Grice and Pressel qualified at The Collegiate Shootout which was played last month at Las Colinas Country Club by firing an even par 71. Grice will tee off at 1:43 EDT in Thursday's first round.
- Grice, a native of College Station, Texas, played high school golf at A&M Consolidated. She has carded four top-10 and seven top-20 finishes for Carolina this year and has led the Tar Heels to three team titles as well.
