Release: 03/17/2013

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - The University of North Carolina women's golf team tied for eighth in the SunTrust Gator Invitational. The Tar Heels shot a 17-over-par 297 Sunday to drop them from seventh place after two rounds. Junior Katherine Perry tied for 13th place in the individual race after firing a 2-over 72 for the second day in a row.

Perry, from Cary, N.C., carded four birdies and six bogeys in the final round of play. Perry's 2-over 72 put her three-day total at an 8-over 218 and tied for 13th place. Junior Jackie Chang and sophomore Maia Schechter tied for 20th place at an 11-over 221 after three rounds. However, Chang, from Paradise Valley, Ariz., fired a 3-over 73 and carded two birdies and five bogeys in the round.
