CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - North Carolina women's golf coach Jan Mann announced the signing of Leslie Cloots of Oelegem, Antwerp, Belgium. Cloots attends Kominklijk Atheneum 2 in Bruges, Belgium and will join the Tar Heel team in the fall of 2013.
"We are extremely excited to have Leslie join our Carolina golf program," says Mann. "I had the opportunity to watch Leslie play at the European Girls Team Championship and the British Girls Amateur Championship. Not only was I impressed with her golf swing and putting stroke, but also her demeanor on the golf course. She is a fierce competitor who maintains her focus throughout the competition. Leslie is going to be a great addition to our team."Cloots is a member of the 2012 Belgium Ladies National Team. She was 2012 Grand Prix AFG winner and 2012 King's Prize runner-up. She tied for runner-up honors at the 2012 Annika Invitational Europe and semi-finalist at the 2012 Belgium National Match Play Championship. She was runner-up in stroke play qualifying for the 2012 British Girls Amateur Championship. Cloots finished fifth at the 2012 Belgium Ladies International Amateur Championship and ninth at the 2012 German International Ladies Amateur. Also, she played on a three-person team that finished 12th out 53 national teams at the 2012 World Amateur Team Championships.
