Carolina Clashes With NC State On Thursday
Release: 01/08/2014
CHAPEL HILL - For the first time in seven years, both North Carolina and NC State will have a top 25 ranking attached to their name when they play Thursday at Carmichael Arena. Tip off is scheduled for 6 p.m., on ESPN3.

The No. 13/12 Tar Heels will play No. 20/23 NC State for the 97th time dating back to the first meeting in the 1974-75 season.

The game also marks the first of three "Throwback Thursdays" featuring 1/2 price concessions, old school music with a live DJ and free t-shirts for UNC students in attendance.

Carolina (12-3, 0-1 ACC) has won eight of the last nine meetings in Chapel Hill against the Wolfpack, who owns a 14-1 record and a 1-0 mark in the ACC after a win over #20 Syracuse last Sunday.

Thursday will be the first meeting with both teams ranked at the same time since the 2007 ACC Tournament title game when the Tar Heels prevailed, 60-54, on March 3 to win their third of four-consecutive league tournament championships.

Carolina will play its third-straight ranked opponent on Sunday at No. 18/17 Florida State at 1 p.m., and will be televised on the Regional Sports Network and ESPN3.
