No. 15 UNC Hosts BC On Senior Night

CHAPEL HILL --- North Carolina will play its final home game of 2012-13 and honor seniors Krista Gross, Waltiea Rolle and Tierra Ruffin-Pratt Thursday when the Tar Heels host Boston College at 7 p.m. at Carmichael Arena. Carolina is 25-4 on the season and 13-3 in Atlantic Coast Conference play following a 68-58 win over rival NC State Sunday afternoon. Boston College is 10-17 (4-12 in the ACC) after a 64-61 home loss to Clemson on Sunday. UNC is ranked No. 15 in the latest Associated Press Top 25 and No. 17 in the USA Today Sports Coaches' Poll. Boston College is unranked.

• North Carolina is 7-1 all-time against Boston College, including a 3-1 mark in Chapel Hill.
• Carolina won the first meeting of 2013, an 80-52 decision in Chestnut Hill. That victory was No. 900 for Sylvia Hatchell.

• Senior Krista Gross is fourth in the ACC in rebounding with 8.5 rpg. Entering 2012-13, her career rebounding average in 95 games was 4.4 rpg.

CHAPEL HILL (AP) --- Tierra Ruffin-Pratt matched her career high with 24 points to help No. 16 North Carolina beat North Carolina State 68-58 on Sunday. Fellow senior Waltiea Rolle added 21 points and 11 rebounds for the Tar Heels (25-4, 13-3 ACC), who beat their nearby rival for the 23rd time in 27 meetings. Ruffin-Pratt and Rolle both came up big during a 7-0 spurt that finally helped North Carolina build a cushion against the Wolfpack (13-15, 5-11), though the Tar Heels had to fight to the final minute to secure the win. Marissa Kastanek scored 17 to lead the Wolfpack, who led by six early after halftime and trailed 54-53 with 6 minutes left before UNC's decisive spurt.
