GEORGIA TECH SERIES NOTES
• North Carolina is 51-17 all-time against Georgia Tech, including a 23-7 mark in Chapel Hill.
• Georgia Tech has won five straight meetings over the course of three seasons, its best run of form in the series. Prior to the current streak, the Yellow Jackets had beaten Carolina just five times since 1993.
• Carolina has three different streaks of at least 12 consecutive wins over Georgia Tech, including a run of 17 straight from 1980-88.
• Georgia Tech won both meetings in 2012, winning 56-54 in Chapel Hill during the regular season and 54-53 in the ACC Tournament quarterfinals.
• Georgia Tech (17-51) is one of three schools with at least 50 losses to the Tar Heels - Wake Forest (12-58) and Clemson (27-52) are the others.

QUICK HITS
• Carolina leads the nation in steals (14.9 spg). The Tar Heels are ninth in FG% defense and 11th in blocks.
• Freshman Xylina McDaniel has been named ACC Rookie of the Week a league-best four times in 2012-13. She leads all ACC freshmen in scoring (12.6 ppg), rebounding (7.9 rpg) and steals (2.9 spg).
• Head coach Sylvia Hatchell is currently five wins shy of 900 for her career and is one ahead of C. Vivian Stringer for the lead among active coaches. Only Pat Summitt and Jody Conradt have reached 900 wins.
• Senior Tierra Ruffin-Pratt is averaging a team-best 14.0 points per game this season. Entering 2012-13, her career scoring average in 84 games was 6.7 ppg.

LAST TIME OUT: No. 11 UNC 70, NC State 66
RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) --- Brittany Rountree scored 17 points, including two free throws with 12.5 seconds left, to help No. 11 North Carolina beat North Carolina State 70-66 on Thursday night. Waltiea Rolle added 16 points for the Tar Heels (16-1, 4-0 Atlantic Coast Conference), who rallied from 10 down early in the second half to beat the Wolfpack for the 22nd time in 26 meetings. That includes five of the last seven in NC State's Reynolds Coliseum, where the Wolfpack followed a tough loss against highly ranked Duke last week with another disappointing finish against a nearby league rival.

TAR HEELS MAKING THE RIGHT ADJUSTMENTS
With the win at NC State on Thursday, the Tar Heels are now 7-1 on the year when tied or trailing at halftime. Carolina was 9-29 in those situations in the previous three seasons. All four ACC wins so far in 2013 have seen the Tar Heels enter the locker room either tied or behind.

HATCHELL APPROACHING HISTORY
Head coach Sylvia Hatchell enters Thursday's game with a career record of 895-315 in 38 seasons, just five wins shy of 900. Only two coaches in women's basketball history have reached this milestone - Pat Summitt and Jody Conradt - but Hatchell and Rutgers head coach C. Vivian Stringer are both on pace to get there in 2013. Hatchell currently holds the active lead, one ahead of Stringer's 894.
