NEW YORK --- North Carolina returned to the Associated Press Top 25 Monday after the Tar Heels defeated No. 25 Georgetown and Iowa this week to win the Preseason WNIT. Carolina, which opened the season outside the AP Top 25 for the first time since the 2001-02 season, re-entered the poll at No. 25 after falling out last February.

The Tar Heels took a similar path back to the poll in 2001, starting the season 9-1 with the only loss coming at Connecticut. Carolina would finish that season second in the ACC and advnace to the NCAA Sweet 16 after winning first and second round games in Chapel Hill.

UNC will be in action twice this weekend - Saturday at noon vs. La Salle and Sunday at 2 p.m. vs. UNC Asheville. The UNCA game time was changed due to NCAA men's soccer while the La Salle game had not been previously scheduled due to the home football game.
