CHAPEL HILL --- The 2012-13 North Carolina women's basketball team will take to the court for game action for the first time Sunday when the Tar Heels host Division II Carson-Newman in an exhibition matchup at 2 p.m. at Carmichael Arena. The game is the first of two exhibition games this year, with Carolina hosting Wingate on Thursday, Nov. 1, prior to opening the regular season against Davidson on Friday, Nov. 9.
In addition to being the first chance for fans to see this year's Tar Heels in action, Sunday's contest will pit UNC head coach Sylvia Hatchell against her alma mater. Hatchell earned her B.S. in physical education from Carson-Newman, where she played basketball and volleyball.
Admission to the game is free for all spectators.
