UNC Picked Second In ACC Preseason Poll
Release: 08/17/2012
GREENSBORO, N.C. - The University of North Carolina was picked second in the ACC volleyball preseason poll, released Friday afternoon. Two Tar Heels were also named to the 2012 Preseason All-ACC Team.

Carolina received 111 points to finish second in the rankings behind 2011 ACC Champion Florida State (118 points).  UNC had three first-place votes.

Rounding out the top-five teams were Clemson (97), Duke (92) and Miami (81).

Senior Emily McGee and sophomore Chaniel Nelson were both named to the preseason All-ACC team. McGee, an outside hitter, and Nelson, an opposite hitter, were AVCA All-America honorable mentions in 2011. The Tar Heels finished the 2011 season tied for third in the ACC with Duke (15-5).

The 2012 ACC volleyball champion will be determined by the final regular season standings, with that team receiving an automatic bid to the 2012 NCAA Volleyball Championship.
