CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The University of North Carolina track and field teams will host the Joe Hilton Invitational on Saturday as their final home competition of the season. The 2013 seniors will be honored along with other special events throughout the day.
One highlight of the day will come at 2:05 p.m. with the honorary McAfee Mile in recognition of the 40th anniversary Reggie McAfee becoming the first African American to break the four minute barrier in the mile.
Carolina track and field will also host UNC employees in the Faculty Mile at 3:30 p.m. Participation in the UNC Faculy Mile is free and trophies will be awarded to the top man and woman in the race. UNC staff are encouraged to sign up by emailing head coach Harlis Meaders by 9 p.m. on Thursday.
