Shot Put - 41-3 ¾ (12.59 meters) • Hammer - 192-9 (58.76 meters) • Weight Throw - 60-10 ¾ (18.56 meters)

Sophomore: Qualified for the NCAA East Preliminary in the hammer throw • Set a personal record 60-10 ¾ (18.56 meters) in the weight throw at the ACC Indoor Championships where she placed ninth in the event • Finished sixth in the hammer at the Texas Relays where she threw for a personal record 192-9 (58.76 meters) • Won at three separate meets and finished second five times.

Freshman: Qualified for the NCAA East Preliminary in the hammer throw • Set a personal record of 179-10 (54.82 meters) in the hammer throw at the ACC Outdoor Championships • Placed fourth at the conference meet to score for Carolina • Threw a collegiate-best 59-0 (17.98 meters) in the weight throw to rank third all-time in the UNC indoor record books in her first season with the Tar Heels • Also threw a college-long 41-3 ¾ (12.59 meters) in the indoor shot put • Competed at the ACC Indoor Championships • Placed second in the junior women's hammer throw at the USA Championships to secure a spot on the junior national team, throwing 187-4 (57.11 meters) on her fourth attempt as the longest of her career • Won silver at the Pan American Athletics Championships with the USA Junior National Team throwing a collegiate-best 57.40 meters • Named to the ACC Academic Honor Roll.

Prep: Nominee for the 2012 USATF Athlete of the Year • Ranked third all-time in U.S. high school history for girls' weight throw • Owns her high school's records for the discus and shot put • New Balance Indoor National weight throw champion and New Balance Outdoor National hammer champion in 2012 • broke record at the Junior Olympic hammer throw in which she championed the event • Voted Most Valuable Track Athlete as a senior • State champion in the discus and shot as a senior • Participated in the World Youth Trials as a junior in 2011 • A region champion in the discus all four years of high school and placed at states for three years • Also played varsity basketball and softball • Inducted into the Woodward Academy Athlete Hall of Fame upon graduating • Honor roll student all four years • Won the Girl Scout Bronze Award • Selected to her high school Honor Council • Active community service member for Boys and Girls Club as well as mission trips and the Girl Scouts.

Personal: Plans to major in pre-dentistry with hopes to be an orthodontist • Avana Story is the daughter of Ava and Otis Story • Born September 3, 1994.
