Freshman: ACC Champion in the 400-meter hurdles and the 4x400 relay • NCAA East Preliminary Qualifier in the long hurdles and the 4x400 relay • Earned All-ACC honors for his two championship performances • Broke his personal best in the 400 hurdles in every race he competed in during his freshman campaign • Did not compete during the indoor season • Named to the ACC Academic Honor Roll and earned All-ACC Academic honors for the outdoor season.

Prep: The 2012 Minnesota Gatorade Player of the Year • Competed in the 110-meter hurdles, the 300-meter hurdles, the triple jump and on the 4x100 relay on the varsity track team all four years of high school • Named to the 2012 All-VSA track team • Holds the Minnesota state record for the 110 hurdles and the 300 hurdles • Earned all-state honors in track three times for the 300 hurdles, twice for the 110 hurdles and once for triple jump • Also played forward for his high school soccer team, earning all-state honors and a spot on the ODP Regional soccer team.

Personal: Member of Athletes in Action leadership team and Champions for Christ • Has four older sisters, one of which is on the track and field team at Iowa State • Rilwan Mohamed Alowonle is the son of Toyin and Rilwan Alowonle • Born December 12, 1993.
