Hess-Olesen Falls At Indoor Nationals

NEW YORK, N.Y. — Facing the toughest first-round matchup possible, University of North Carolina sophomore Esben Hess-Olesen fell to Alex Domijan of the University of Virginia Thursday in the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships at the Billie Jean King U.S. Tennis Center in Flushing Meadow, N.Y.

A sophomore from Viby, Denmark, Hess-Olesen dropped the match to Domijan 6-3, 6-2 in the Round of 32 in the singles bracket.  Domijan was the No. 1 seed in the tournament.

On Friday, Hess-Olesen fell in the consolation bracket to Winston Lin of Columbia, 6-7, 6-2, 7-5.

Hess-Olesen had advanced to the nationals by win the Carolinas ITA Regional last month in Cary, N.C.

This tournament completes the fall season for North Carolina.  The Tar Heels will return to the tennis courts for the spring season in January.
