Two Tar Heels Advance At ITA Event

TULSA, OKLA. - A pair of Tar Heel tennis players advance on the opening day of the 2012 Intercollegiate Tennis Association Michael D. Case Tennis Center at the University of Tulsa.

The Qualifying Singles phase of the championships, which run through October 8, began today with junior Nelson Vick defeating Nathan Sereke of Boise State 6-3, 6-4 and sophomore Esben Hess-Olesen triumphing over Amau Dachs of TCU 6-3, 6-3 in first round action.

Vick and Hess-Olesen will both play their second round matches Tuesday at Tulsa's hardcourt outdoor facility.

The Pre-Qualifying phase of the singles tournament was held over the weekend with UNC senior William Parker going 2-1 while freshman Brett Clark dropped a tight three-set match against the bracket's No. 3 seed.

Final Round - Thorsten Bertsch (San Diego State) d. William Parker (UNC), 6-4, 6-4
