UNC Swimmers Sweep Pier-2-Pier Titles

University of North Carolina swimmers Dan O'Connor and Kelsey Cummings made a clean sweep of the championships Saturday at the annual Pier-2-Pier Swim Race in Wrightsville Beach, N.C.

O'Connor, a Syracuse, N.Y. junior, won the men's race in 30 minutes, 22 seconds while Cummings, a sophomore from El Segundo, Calif., captured the women's race in 31 minutes, 25 seconds.

The Pier-2-Pier Swim Race in an annual open water swim race at beautiful Wrightsville Beach, N.C. and is hosted by the Cape Fear Aquatic Club and the Wilmington Family YMCA.  The 2012 race was the eighth annual event.

The race course is approximately two miles between the Johnny Mercer and Crystal Piers.  Competition is open to all swimmers 11 years oild and up.
