General:  Tremendous addition to Carolina program...will contribute immediately in the midfield and at the face-off X...member of the 2012 USA Under 19 Lacrosse Team that won the FILA World Championship in Turku, Finland...he was the youngest member of that gold medal winning squad.

Prep:  Graduate of Calvert Hall College High School...2013 Under Armour All-America...No. 2-ranked lacrosse player (#1 midfielder) in Class of 2013 as named by Inside Lacrosse Magazine in 2011 & 2012...four-year lacrosse letterman as a midfielder and face-off specialist...finished his career with 68 goals, 56 assists and an astounding total of 622 ground balls...won 74 percent of his career face-offs (767 of 1032)...as a senior his numbers were 24 goals, 21 assists, 196 ground balls and 234 of 304 face-offs (77%)...his junior year numbers were 21 goals, 18 assists, 176 ground balls and 208 of 274 face-offs (76%)...as a sophomore he had 21 goals, 15 assists, 184 ground balls and was 237 of 319 on face-offs (74%)...as a freshman he scored twice, passed for four assists, claimed 66 ground balls and won 88 of 135 face-offs (65%)...2012 & 2013 U.S. Lacrosse high school All-America...finalist for 2013 C. Personal:  Full name is Stephen Patrick DeMaine Kelly...nicknamed "Bones"...son of Frank and Gayle Kelly...was born in November 1994 in Baltimore...majors in business administration...his father Frank played football and lacrosse at Cornell and was captain of 1986 Big Red team...his mother Gayle was a field hockey and lacrosse player at Mary Washington...uncles David and Bryan Kelly played lacrosse at Carolina on 1986 and 1991 NCAA championship teams, respectively...his uncle John played lacrosse at Washington College, competing in three NCAA Division III title games...brother Frankie and cousin Patrick are current Tar Heels.

The best thing about being a Tar Heel lacrosse player is being a part of a family.
