Carolina Notes

• The Tar Heels are now 3-0 on the season, 2-0 at home.

• Carolina has scored 95, 97 and 93 points in the first three games. That’s the first time UNC has opened a season with three straight 90-point games since the 1994-95 season.

• Carolina shot 59.4 percent from the floor in the first half, its highest percentage in any half this year.

• Carolina has shot better than 50 percent from the floor in the first half in all three games and under 50 percent from the floor in the second half in all three games.

• Carolina made a season-high 24 free throws.

 

Tar Heel Player Notes

Joel Berry II tied his career high with 23 points. This is the second time in three games this year Berry has scored a career-best 23 points (also at Tulane).

• This was Berry’s fifth career 20-point game and the first time he has accomplished that at home. His previous scoring high in the Smith Center was 19 against Georgia Tech last year.

• Berry added six rebounds and four assists. He is 18 for 30 from the floor (60 percent), 8 for 15 from three-point range (.533) and 20 for 22 from the free throw line (.909) this year.

Justin Jackson had his third career double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.

• Freshman guard Seventh Woods had a game-high and season-high six assists.

 

Roy Williams Notes

• Tonight’s game was his 995th as a college head coach.

• Is 786-209 overall and 368-108 at Carolina.
• Tonight’s win ties Williams with Lefty Driesell for ninth place all-time in wins by a Division I head coach.

• Williams is five games shy of 1,000 games as a college head coach and 14 wins from 800 wins.

 

Series Notes

• Carolina is 4-0 vs. the 49ers, including 3-0 in Chapel Hill and 3-0 in the Smith Center.
