North Carolina 62, Maryland 52

  • Reggie Bullock scored a career-high 24 points. His previous high was 23 vs. Tennessee State on Nov. 22, 2011. He had 21 points in the first half, just one shy of his previous high for an ACC game, which was 22 at Virginia earlier this year.
  • Bullock out-scored Maryland, 21-20, in the opening half.
  • The 62 points are the fewest by UNC in a win over Maryland since a 60-54 victory on February 13, 1985, in College Park.
  • The 62 points are the fewest by UNC in any Roy Williams-coached game against Maryland. The last time the Tar Heels scored fewer than 62 in a game against the Terps was in a 96-56 loss in College Park on Feb. 22, 2003.
  • The 52 points by Maryland today are the fewest by the Terps against UNC since a 66-50 Carolina win on Jan. 6, 1982, in College Park.
  • James Michael McAdoo posted his fifth double-double of the season and his first since the UAB game on December 1st. He had 19 points and a game-high-tying 11 rebounds.
  • Bullock (24) and McAdoo (19) combined for 43 of Carolina's 62 points. That is the most points they have combined to score in a game this year. Their previous high was 35 against both Florida Atlantic and Chaminade.
  • Bullock and McAdoo scored 69.4 percent of Carolina's points. The previous high percentage that they combined to score this year was 61.5 percent against Virginia. Bullock (22) and McAdoo (10) had 32 of UNC's 52 points in the loss in Charlottesville.
  • The Tar Heels shot 35.4 percent from the floor, marking the first time Carolina won a game when shooting under 40 percent since beating Maryland, 88-64, in Chapel Hill last February 29th.
  • Carolina shot 23.5 percent from the floor in the second half (8 of 34), its lowest percentage in a half since shooting 22.6 percent in the second half against Kansas last season in the NCAA Midwest regional final in St. Louis.
  • The Tar Heels have beaten Maryland five times in a row and 11 times in the last 15 meetings. Carolina is now 57-17 against Maryland in Chapel Hill and 18-8 in the Smith Center.
  • Dexter Strickland had four steals and leads the Tar Heels with 27 for the season.
  • Marcus Paige had six assists and no turnovers, his best assist-error ratio in ACC play and his second-best as a Tar Heel (was 9/0 against McNeese State).
  • Joel James had two field goals in 11 minutes, his first game with multiple baskets since Dec. 8thagainst East Tennessee State.
  • Desmond Hubert had two blocks and two steals in 14 minutes. He has a team-high 15 blocks this year.
