NEWARK, Del. - The top-ranked North Carolina field hockey team earned its second shutout win of the season Friday with a 6-0 win at Delaware. The Tar Heels improved to 4-1 on the season with the victory, while the host Blue Hens fell to 1-5.

The Tar Heels got two goals each from junior Sinead Loughran  and sophomore Samantha Travers and one each from freshmen Emma Bozek and Emily Wold.

Loughran's gamewinner came just 20 seconds into the match. After Delaware goalkeeper Sarah Scher saved Loughran's first shot, she gathered the rebound and shot again to put the Tar Heels on the scoreboard.

In the sixth minute, UNC made it 2-0 on Bozek's goal, assisted by senior Jaclyn Gaudioso Radvany.

In the 12th minute, Wold scored her first career goal on a 10-yard shot that put UNC up 3-0.

Travers then scored back-to-back goals, one in the 22nd minute to put UNC up 4-0 at halftime and the next in the 39th minute of play.

The final Tar Heel goal came from Loughran, who scored on an assist from Gaudioso Radvany in the 39th minute.

UNC finished with 39 shots while holding the Blue Hens to one.

Next up for Carolina is a neutral site matchup with Villanova. The game is set for Sunday at noon at Delaware's Rullo Stadium.
