CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- The final day of the 2013 MLB Draft saw a pair of current Tar Heels drafted as junior Hobbs Johnson was taken in the 14th round and senior Chaz Frank went in the 20th round.
Johnson was taken with the 422nd overall pick in the 14th round by the Milwaukee Brewers. Johnson owns a 4-0 record on the year with a 2.09 ERA in 16 starts as a junior. Johnson has struck out 71 in 77.1 innings of work. Johnson becomes the first Tar Heel drafted by the Brewers since Rob Wooten in 2008.
Frank was drafted with the 595th overall pick in the 20th round by the Toronto Blue Jays. Frank has been a fixture at the top of the Tar Heel lineup the past two years and owns a .308 batting average on the year. Frank has scored 58 runs and stolen a team-high 22 bases in 2013. Frank becomes the first Tar Heel taken by the Blue Jays since Russ Adams was selected with the 14th overall pick in the 2002 MLB Draft.
UNC signee A.J. Bogucki was taken by the Minnesota Twins in the 31st round with the 920th overall pick.
