STUDENT-ATHLETE DEVELOPMENT LINKS
Cricket Lane is the assistant athletic director for student-athlete development at UNC. She has been working with student-athletes for over 20 years. In her current position, she is responsible for Life Skills programming for all student-athletes which includes personal development, career development, and community outreach. She is lead instructor in the Carolina Leadership Academy's CREED Program for first-year student-athletes and has sport supervision of the track and field, cross country programs at UNC.

Before becoming a Tar Heel, she spent four years as assistant athletic director of student-athlete development at Saint Francis University, where she also served as the university's director of multi-cultural affairs and taught in the sociology department. Prior to her arrival at Saint Francis, Lane served in the same capacity in the department of athletics at the University of Detroit Mercy. She has worked as a therapist in private practice and taught graduate courses at Detroit Mercy and Wayne State University. She holds a Bachelors of Science in psychology from George Mason University, a Masters of Art in counseling from the University of Detroit and her Doctor of Philosophy in counselor education from Wayne State University.

Lane has served as a facilitator for the NCAA National and Regional Leadership Conferences, and NCAA Life Skills Orientation Conferences. She is currently one of the lead facilitators for the NCAA Student-Athlete Leadership Forum. She is past chair of the NCAA Leadership Selection Committee, and the NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship Committee and is a former member of the NCAA CHAMPS/Life Skills Advisory Committee. She has presented and co-presented with other educators on various leadership and student well-being issues at national and regional conferences. She is a facilitator for the National Consortium for Academic and Sports Mentors in Violence Prevention and Teamwork Leadership Institute, the UNC Diversity Education Team and a member of the UNC Eating Disorders Program Board of Visitors.
