Carolina Closes Weekend With Win At FSU

TALLAHASSEE, Florida - Sophomore Jessie Aney won the deciding singles match to help lift No. 3 North Carolina to a 6-1 victory over Florida State on Sunday afternoon from Speicher Tennis Center.

North Carolina (18-1, 5-0 ACC) remained perfect in league play thanks to another convincing road win in the state of Florida. The Tar Heels also picked up a 6-1 victory at Miami on Friday.

Combined with the opening doubles point and singles wins in order by #78 Makenna Jones, #2 Hayley Carter, #24 Aney and sophomore Chloe Ouellet-Pize, UNC took a commanding 5-0 lead over the Seminoles.

Florida State (8-8, 1-5) picked up a win by Julia Mikulski to register its only point. #33 Alexa Graham closed out the days festivities with a straight set win on court four to pick up her 10th win in a row going back to Feb. 13.

Aney, Carter, Graham, Jones and Ouellet-Pizer all own an unblemished 5-0 record against the ACC this season.

Carolina begins a four-match home stand on Friday against Virginia Tech on Friday at 3 p.m. The Tar Heels will also host Virginia on Sunday at 1 p.m.
