CHAPEL HILL—The University of North Carolina women's lacrosse program under head coach Jenny Levy has a long history of strong performance in the classroom, and the Tar Heels continued that academic legacy once again in 2016-17.
The team posted a combined team grade point average of 3.12552 for the 2016-17 academic year, including 3.108 in the fall and 3.146 in the spring semester as Carolina won the Atlantic Coast Conference regular season championship, the ACC Tournament and advanced to the NCAA Tournament quarterfinals.
Nine Tar Heels earned Dean's List honors in the fall of 2016, and 13 posted GPAs that will qualify them for Dean's List honors in the spring when the university announces the accolades later this summer.
The women's lacrosse team was among the 19 Tar Heel programs whose multi-year APRs exceed the national averages for their respective sports (one other UNC sport equaled the national average and four are within three points of the national average). Baseball, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's cross country, women's fencing, field hockey, women's golf, gymnastics, women's lacrosse, rowing, men's soccer, softball, men's and women's swimming and diving, men's and women's tennis, men's track and field and volleyball all exceeded their national averages. Women's track and field equaled the national average.
