#3 UNC-Duke Battle Wednesday
Release: 04/18/2017
CHAPEL HILL - The final week of the regular season will be busy for the third-ranked North Carolina women’s tennis team with three home matches scheduled at Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center. The Tar Heels get things started Wednesday against No. 15 Duke at 3 p.m.

North Carolina (24-2, 10-1) enters the week third in the ACC standings, trailing only unbeaten Georgia Tech (12-0) and the Blue Devils (11-0), who will face off Sunday in Durham in their final match of the regular season.

UNC head coach Brian Kalbas is one victory shy of setting a new program record for career wins. In his 14th season in Chapel Hill, Kalbas is tied with Kitty Harrison (1977-98) with 351 victories.

His career record of 351-90 is good for a .796 winning percentage, second all-time in ACC history to current Duke coach Jamie Ashworth (463-118, .797).

A victory by Carolina over the Blue Devils would swing Kalbas ahead of Ashworth by mere percentage points.

Also on the line is Hayley Carter’s march to the ACC record for most career singles victories. The five-time All-America selection is one win shy of tying former Duke standout Vanessa Webb and her 161 wins that took place from 1996 to 1999.

On Wednesday, Carolina fans are invited to assist local women while supporting the Tar Heels. Carolina Athletics and the Carolina Women’s Center are partnering to collect items that will be donated to benefit women and their children who are living in shelters in Chapel Hill.

Donation bins will be located near the entrance at each facility. Fans are invited to bring full-sized items from the list below. For health and safety reasons, all donated items must be new and unopened.

Suggested Donations List
Shampoo, Conditioner, Soap, Toothpaste, Deodorant, Pads/Tampons, Shaving supplies, Laundry detergent and Household cleaning products.

Carolina also hosts Pitt on Saturday at 11 a.m. and Syracuse on Sunday at 1 p.m.
