GREENSBORO, N.C. – Following last weekend's game action, North Carolina senior attacker Molly Hendrick has been the ACC Women’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week, while Louisville junior goalie Brittany Read is this week’s ACC Defensive Player of the Week.
Hendrick tied her career highs with six goals and seven points in second-ranked Carolina’s 21-11 win over Virginia on Saturday in Chapel Hill. Five of her goals came in the decisive second half and one was the eventual game-winner, breaking open what had been a tight game by leading an 8-0 UNC run coming out of the locker room at halftime. Hendrick tied her career highs in both goals and points for the second game in a row after also posting six goals and an assist in the March 5 win over Canisius.
Read made seven of her 10 saves in the second half to help the Cardinals earn their first win over No. 13 Duke in the series history. Read was able to fend off a flurry of shots by the Blue Devils, especially late in the second half to lift the Cardinals to their seventh win of the season.
