Tar Heels Open ITA Title Defense Vs. Georgia

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The North Carolina men’s tennis team opens play Friday at the ITA National Team Indoor Championships at the Boar’s Head Sports Club. UNC is the defending champion in the event.

The Tar Heels (9-0) are seeded fifth in the field and will take on 12-seeded Georgia at 3:30 p.m. The teams last met in the 2016 NCAA Tournament quarterfinals, when the Bulldogs won 4-0 to bring Carolina’s record-breaking season to an end

UNC earned a spot in Charlottesville by winning its ITA Kick-off Weekend four-team regional, beating Notre Dame and Vanderbilt at Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center Jan. 27-28. Twelve of the 15 host schools advanced to this weekend’s play, where the teams will compete in a single-elimination format. For a look at the main draw, click here.
