CHAPEL HILL --- When North Carolina hosts NC State in the Brawl At The Hall on Jan. 23, it figures to be a standout night for college wrestling in the ACC. Highlighting the event will be the match at 141 pounds, which is scheduled to feature 2016 All-American Joey Ward of UNC and 2015 All-American Kevin Jack of NC State. Ward and Jack, who have split four memorable matches over the last two seasons, will be the 10th and final bout of the dual at Memorial Hall.
A redshirt senior from Cincinnati, Ward is 14-2 on the year following his runner-up finish at the Southern Scuffle. He beat previously unbeaten Joey McKenna of Stanford in the Scuffle semifinals before falling to reigning NCAA champion Dean Heil of Oklahoma State in a tight final. At last year's NCAA Championships, Ward beat third-seeded Jack in the blood round to guarantee his first career All-America accolades.
Jack was recently named ACC Wrestler of the Week for a second time after winning the 141 title at the Midlands Championship. For the season, the junior from Danbury, Connecticut, is 20-1 with a current winning streak of 18 matches.
Tickets for the Brawl At The Hall are available through the Memorial Hall box office and can be purchased online here.
