Berringer graduated from UNC in May of 2014 with a degree in communication studies as well as in management and society.
A California native, Berringer was a solid force for the Tar Heels on both the outside hitter and opposite positions. For her career, she posted 889 kills and 136 blocks, including a career-high of 23 kills against Liberty on Sept. 3, 2011.
“I’m just very thankful to be able to continue my playing career in Austria,” Berringer said. “I am lucky that I had such a great support system in Chapel Hill to help prepare me.”
“UNC gave me the opportunity to play at such a high level, being surrounded by amazing athletes and coaches who are always pushing you and wanting you to be better.”
In order to pursue a contract overseas, Berringer worked with Bring It Promotions, a volleyball agency that also organized the Tar Heels European tour in May. The exposure Berringer received during the tour led to several offers from clubs in Europe, including from VC Tirol, which is located in Innsbruck, Austria.
“The location is beautiful, and living in Innsbruck will provide me with many travel opportunities. The club has had several American players in the past and the coaches seem to be a great fit.”
“Overall, VC Tirol can provide the experience that I was looking for as I begin playing professionally.”
