CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Tar Heel golfer Elizabeth Mallett has been chosen to play for England in the European Ladies' Championship to be played July 8-12 at Ljubijana Golf Club in Slovenia. Mallett, a rising junior for the Tar Heels, is one of six, plus one alternate, chosen to represent England.
Mallett, an All-ACC performer this past year, broke into the starting lineup in her first year as a Tar Heel and has been a starter in all of Carolina's tournaments this past year. She carded seven top-30 and four top-10 finishes. Mallett captured her first win as a Tar Heel at the SMU/Dallas Athletic Club Invitational where she was the only player to shoot under-par (3-under 141. Mallett led the Tar Heels with a stroke average of 74.00. She carded three under-par rounds, two in the 60s, and one even par round.
The European Ladies' Championship will feature two rounds of stroke play to determine their places in the knockout flights. The leading eight teams advance on to the championship flight to contest for the medals.
