Four of the nation's top college basketball programs will take part in the inaugural CBS Sports Classic on Dec. 20, 2014, in Chicago. North Carolina will meet Ohio State at 1 p.m. ET in the United Center, followed by UCLA vs. Kentucky at 3:30 p.m.
CBS Sports will broadcast a doubleheader in 2014, 2015, and 2016 featuring these four elite programs playing each other once in a round-robin format.
"The CBS Sports Classic is a tremendous showcase for college basketball and an exciting event for North Carolina because it brings together four outstanding basketball programs and gives our fans across the country three unique opportunities to see us play," says UNC head coach Roy Williams. "Thad Matta's Ohio State teams are always talented and well coached, so we know we will have a challenge in this year's game in Chicago. Our players and fans enjoy these matchups; it should be a fun test heading into the holidays."
The CBS Sports Classic moves to Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. on December 19, 2015, and then travels to Las Vegas, Nev. in December 2016.
These four schools have combined to win 25 national championships and are among the winningest college basketball programs of all-time.
"We are excited to bring these powerhouse programs together for a tremendous early season showcase," said Dan Weinberg, CBS Sports' senior vice president for programming. "From its debut next season, the CBS Sports Classic will be a marquee event, adding to our already deep college basketball schedule."
In addition, CBS Sports will stream the games exclusively on CBSSports.com and the CBS Sports mobile app for iPhone, iPad and Android.
