CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Carolina volleyball had a successful showing while hosting its annual spring tournament on Saturday.
The Tar Heels were 7-1 for the day while winning three matches against NC State, Elon and UNCW. UNC split its match with Duke.
Leigh Andrew led Carolina with 31 kills, 18 digs, two blocks and two aces across the four two-set matches. Lauren Adkins posted 22 kills and three blocks, and Chaniel Nelson added 17 kills with three blocks as well. Ece Taner led UNC's defense with 31 digs while recording two aces, and Heather Gearhart tallied 18 digs and an ace.
Carolina Spring Tournament Results:
• vs. NC State: 25-22, 25-10
• vs. UNCW: 25-16, 25-19
• vs. Elon: 25-19, 25-21
• vs. Duke: 21-25, 25-23
Saturday's tournament closes out spring competition for UNC until the Tar Heels depart for their European Exhibition Tour, May 13-25.
