CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The No. 8 North Carolina men's tennis team (21-3, 8-1 ACC) cruised past 72nd-ranked Georgia Tech (7-12, 1-8 ACC) 7-0 on Friday to extend its winning streak to six games.

Coach Sam Paul's Tar Heels did not drop a set in the sweep of a Yellow Jacket team that only fielded five players.

In doubles, Carolina earned two wins against ranked doubles team. The 27th-ranked duo of Brayden Schnur and Brett Clark improved to 11-3 this dual-match season with an 8-3 defeat of No. 47 Carlos Benito and Eduardo Segura on court one. At the No. 2 spot, Oystein Steiro and Nelson Vick dismissed the Yellow Jackets' 79th-ranked pair of Nathan Rakitt and Cole Fiegel, 8-4.

Singles play was highlighted by strong play from upperclassmen Nelson Vick and Oystein Steiro. Vick rolled to a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Colin Edwards on court five, and Steiro clinched the Tar Heels' win with an emphatic slam on match point in his 6-2, 6-2 triumph over Carlos Benito.

In other results, Jack Murray notched a 6-3, 6-1 win on court four, No. 68 Brett Clark tallied a 6-3, 6-4 on court two and 26th-ranked Ronnie Schneider added a hard-earned 6-4, 7-5 victory on court one.

Schneider and Murray were credited with a win by walkover at No. 3 doubles and Johan Skattum won by walkover at No. 6 singles.

"I thought today was our most complete match of the year," said head coach Sam Paul. "It was unfortunate that they couldn't field a number three doubles team and a number six singles player, but up and down we played really well.

"I was happy for Nelson [Vick] getting a win in singles and doubles. He's earned it. He's a battler and a warrior for us, so that was good to see."

The Tar Heels will take to the courts again on Sunday in the season's home finale against No. 20 Clemson at 11 a.m. It will be senior day for Nelson Vick and James Coxe.
