UNC Men Jump To 12th In ITA Rankings
Release: 02/25/2014

Coach Sam Paul's 2014 men's tennis team jumped 11 spots in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings.  Carolina, off to an 11-1 start, its best since win the first 20 matches of the 2007 season, is now 12th in the latest computerized rankings done by the ITA.

Carolina was 23rd in the rankings two weeks ago after starting the year in the low 40s.

Next up for the Tar Heels is the ultimate test as Carolina plays at #1-ranked Ohio State on Friday at 6 p.m.

Individually in singles, three Tar Heels are in the Top 50, incuding a pair of freshmen.  Brayden Schnur is 19th, Ronnie Schneider 29th and sophomore Brett Clark 47th.

Esben Hess-Olesen and Brett Clark are ranked 44th in doubles (based primarily on play last fall) while the freshman doubles duo of Ronnie Schneider and Jack Murray is 56th.

UNC's matchup with Ohio State is its only encounter this week.  After facing the Buckeyes, Carolina will not be back in action again until March 10 when it hosts a day-night doubleheader against Texas and Longwood.  Those will be the final two non-conference matches of the year for UNC.
