Track & Field Set To Compete In Three Separate Meets
Release: 02/20/2014

CHAPEL HILL, N.C., - The University of North Carolina track and field teams will compete in three different tournaments this weekend including the Dennis Craddock Invitational in Chapel Hill. The other two meets are the Alex Wilson Invitational in South Bend, Ind., and the Virginia Tech Challenge in Blacksburg, Va.

The Virginia Tech Challenge starts Friday, Feb. 21 and ends on Saturday Feb. 22. The Dennis Craddock Invitational and the Alex Wilson Invitational are both one-day meets on Saturday Feb. 22.

"This week I think we need to fine tune a little bit," North Carolina head coach Harlis Meaders said. "You can sort of see our teams coming together. If you look at the ACC Honor Roll and depth chart we've got a number of kids in positions to do really big things. It will be a final opportunity for our kids to set great times and marks."

"The Alex Wilson Invitational should be an exceptional meet. Traditionally, Norte Dame is where people go to enhance their relays, 4x400s and DMRs. This year the indoor schedule changed and there are no last chance opportunities. It used to be that you had the conference meet and then the week after the conference meet you had one more additional chance to qualify for the national championships. Since that opportunity no longer exists, you'll see a lot of movement on the national rankings this weekend."

There are 20 colleges or universities competing in the Dennis Craddock Invitational to go along with several clubs and unattached runners.

A recap of performances and full results will be available on at the conclusion of each meet. The schedule for the Virginia Tech Challenge can be found here.
