DAYTONA BEACH, FLA. - Four University of North Carolina golfers, Casey Grice, Meaghan Francella, Catherine O'Donnell and Allie White, have completed second-round play at the LPGA Tour's Final Qualifying Tournament. Play continues through Sunday at LPGA International, Jones and Hills courses.
Francella and Grice both fired a 4-over-par 76 in the second round on the Hills course and are tied for 92nd place with a 4-over 148 total. Francella, a two-time All-ACC selection (2003, 2004) at Carolina was the 2003 ACC Champion and the 2004 NCAA East Regional Champion while Grice was also a two-time All-ACC performer (2012, 2013) for the Tar Heels. White, a three-time National Golf Coaches Association All-America Scholar (2009, 2011, 2012), carded a 3-over-par 75 on the Hills course and is tied for 142nd place at 7-over 151. O'Donnell, a four-time All-ACC performer (2009-2012), shot a 2-over 74 on the Jones course and is tied for 142nd place with a 9-over 153 total.
White, Grice and Francella will all play the Jones course on Friday and all begin play off the #10 tee. Francella tees off at 8:20 a.m. while Grice starts at 8:30 and White begins play at 9:40. O'Donnell will play the Hills course, teeing off at 9:40 off the #10 tee.
The 90-hole event is being played at LPGA International, where 153 players will play the Jones (par 72, 6,389 yards) and Hills (par 72, 6,468 yards) courses twice, hoping to be among the top-70 and ties to advance to Sunday. After Sunday's final round, the top-20 finishers will earn Category 12 status for the 2014 LPGA Tour season, while those who finish 21st through 45th and ties will earn Category 17.
