Roy Williams said Tuesday afternoon that there has been no change in the status of P.J. Hairston and Leslie McDonald, meaning they will not travel to East Lansing with the team for the ACC/Big Ten Challenge matchup against Michigan State on Wednesday night. "Nothing has changed," Williams said.
UNC and the NCAA are working together to resolve ongoing eligibility issues regarding the two players. The duo have also sat out Carolina's first six games. In their absence, the Tar Heels have started a backcourt of Nate Britt and Marcus Paige, with J.P. Tokoto at the small forward spot, James Michael McAdoo at power forward, and Joel James at center.
Williams also addressed the duo's absence at his radio show on Monday night. "With positive thinking, you think some of the other guys will get back at some point," he said. "But right now we have to go with what we have."
