CARY, N.C. - Six individuals from the men's cross country team competed at the Three Stripe Invitational at WakeMed Park on Saturday morning as the teams finish preparations for next week's NCAA Southeast Regional.
Braedon Koerwitz led the team with his fifth-place finish in the 5K race in 15:27.89. Bryan Noreen crossed the line in 11th in 15:44.29 with three more Tar Heels in tow: Chris Reeder in 13th in 15:47.05, Chris Madaffari in 15th in 15:49.60, and O'Neal Wanliss, who was competing in his first ever cross country meet, finished in 17th in 16:03.56. Cory Nicholls also competed for the first time in a Carolina uniform as he placed 22nd in 16:17.34.
The men's team finished second overall with 45 points.
The Tar Heels will be in action on Friday, November 15th at the NCAA Southeast Regional in Earlysville, Va., at the site of the Virginia Panorama Farms where the men took home their first team victory of the season on September 28th. The men's race begins at noon followed by the women's race at 1:15 p.m.
