WBB Hosts Final Tune Up Against Wingate On Tuesday
Release: 11/04/2013
CHAPEL HILL - No. 12/11 North Carolina plays its final exhibition game of the 2013-14 season against Wingate Tuesday at 6 p.m., at Carmichael Arena.

Admission to the game is free for all spectators. If you can't make the game, the contest can be seen on GoHeelsTV.

Associate head coach Andrew Calder will direct the team with head coach Sylvia Hatchell temporarily stepping away from her on-the-court coaching responsibilities due to a recent diagnosis of leukemia.

Wingate's head coach is Ann Hancock, who spent eight seasons as an assistant coach at Carolina, helping the Tar Heels win the 1994 title.

North Carolina put six players in double figures during a 111-50 exhibition victory over Carson-Newman at Carmichael Arena last Tuesday night.

Freshman forward Stephanie Mavunga led all scorers with 18 points and added 14 rebounds for Carolina. Sophomore forward Xylina McDaniel added 16 points on 6-of-9 shooting, while junior guard Brittany Rountree had 15 points.

Freshmen guards Diamond DeShields and Allisha Gray each tossed in 14 points and sophomore guard Megan Buckland added 13 points in the runaway victory.

The season gets underway Friday at 4:30 p.m., against Air Force at Carmichael Arena. That is just a slice of what will be a busy day of Carolina home contests on Nov. 8. Women's Tennis is hosting a tournament, while right next door the men's soccer team will wrap up the regular season against NC State at 7 p.m.

Meanwhile, the women's volleyball team will host Clemson at Carmichael at 8 p.m., and the men's basketball team will host Oakland at the Smith Center at 9 p.m.

All fans with a men's basketball ticket for the game vs. Oakland will be granted complimentary admission to the women's basketball game vs. Air Force and the men's soccer game vs. NC State. Simply present your ticket at the doors of Carmichael and the gate at Fetzer for general admission.

The 3-Point ticket package is on sale now.  Pick either the Tennessee, NC State or Duke game plus 2 more games for only $27.  Click here or call 1-800-722-HEEL to order today.
