Carolina Hosts Exhibition Wednesday Against Carson-Newman
Release: 10/29/2013
CHAPEL HILL - No. 11 North Carolina opens the 2013-14 season Wednesday night with an exhibition matchup with Division II Carson-Newman at 6 p.m., at Carmichael Arena.

This will be the first of two exhibition contests for the Tar Heels. Next week Carolina will host Wingate on Tuesday at 6 p.m. The season opener is slated for Friday, Nov. 8 against Air Force at 4:30 p.m.

GoHeelsTV will provide coverage of the exhibition between the Heels and Eagles that pits UNC head coach Sylvia Hatchell against her alma mater. She earned her degree in physical education from Carson-Newman, where she played basketball and volleyball.

However, Hatchell will not be in attendance due to her recent diagnosis of leukemia. Associate head coach Andrew Calder will direct the team in Hatchell's temporary absence. Calder and Hatchell have been together for 27 basketball seasons dating all the way back to 1986.

Admission to the game is free for all spectators.

The 3-Point ticket package is on sale now.  Pick either the Tennessee, NC State or Duke game plus 2 more games for only $27.  Click here or call 1-800-722-HEEL to order today.
